Best of the best: the classics collection

Introduction: Starting a list of the best of the best is a fraught undertaking from the start - controversial, subjective but most importantly "fun." It is entirely based on memorial diplomacy, public consensus, and ever in flux. So let us start:

Jack on Slap&Tickle

Jack entering the arete

Slap and tickle (24***) is one of three climbs located at the Big Tick (28***) Wall at Narrabeen Steep side. It features a hard roof traverse as the start (with two drilled pockets) to a reset horizontal rest before the beginning of the steep section. The business begins with a juggy rightward travers onto the arete. This is where the climb changes substantially up a well-featured arete with lumpy jugs and several possibilities for contorted rests until the final crux awaits at the slopey top. First ascent by Mike Law back in the dark ages of Sydney sport climbing. A true classic that has withstood the ragaves of time.

Crack Man Fever (21**) old school trad line that has been lurking in the shadows. Finally sent late 2023. Story is here: Narrabeen2023
