It seemed like an eternity had passed since our last sushiclimber Wednesday catchup? But an unexpected phonecall from Mark woke us from our Lindfield slumber and after some quick planning we sprang into action for a catchup at Syndey's oldest bouldering crag. It was a regular homage to the sandstone mecca of old. Irregular visits over the past thirty odd years make this place very special. It almost has its own gravitational field that draws you closer with the passage of time.
Lindfield has a kind of stickyness to it that won't leave your memory. In particular the perenial favourites like: Pipedream, Sydney's best Arete, the big Roof and MinuteMan will always remain in your unconscious mind. Patiently they will be there waiting for you no matter how much time has past. That weekend once again the she-oaks kept a watchfull eye on the flailings far below. And the perfect lines of pockets, cracks and immaculate faces had hardly aged and as is customary soar higher into the sky than is desirable.
It had been some time since we had the old crew together: Mark, Jason, Will and Roman. With the new guard coming along via Jack and Anthony. Will also brought the next generation Christoph and so it was a motley crew that revisite the magic of Lindfield. Leaving much too early on a Saturday afternoon - I wondered when the next time will be..... |
