The Fear is timeless and represents one of the more remarkable beads on the neckless of climbing history. The descent is a little tricky now and I feel a little mornful for the fisherman, who probably were there long before us. Alas all good things must come to and end or do they? The first half of the Fisherman is still managable, but at the halfway mark, all chains have been removed and due to the backburning disaster water is now running off the cliff and the entire area is a lot wetter than it used to be. A large balcony of rock collapsed and took with it part of the ladders leading to the lowest ledge. You need to bring gear for a final ten meter rap to the ledge if you want to still go down this way. The alternative is a rap down WorldWar III and walk across but this means you need to include one extra pitch to gain the Fear. Either way the fear will always be there waiting for you with alternative approaches one of the best adventure climbs in Oz has just been leveled up by mother nature.
