A cold winters day and it had been way too long since we had been up to the Blue Mountains, with visions of the escarpments flooding back into memory, it was time for another visit despite the cold and short days we would head up for a day of climbing. Most of the climbing boys are over in Europe having fun so it was just Louise, Will and Roman who headed up for a day. Conditions were blistering and we needed a place in the sun, where the aprecity could help us stay warm. After a stop at Wentworth Falls in the Patisserie Schwarz to fill up on coffee and Poppyseat scrolls and we were ready to hit the crag. We dicided to give Sublime Point a try and check out Ben Trovato wall for some long hard sport climbs. Will had never been there and it has been too long for me. There are other options including Binary Cave if the wind picks up.
Guilottine (22/24 ***) we did the 22 variation as a warmup (using the tree to get to the first bolt). All in all an excellent warmup on a cold, slightly windy day.
Marxism (23***) the first pitch only which also involves a batman to the first bolt. After that the climbing is consistent resitent down low with a few hardish moves but getting easier as you climb higher. Also a very nice warmup.
Kizasha (25***) shorter than the other routes but very punchy with several hard compression moves and generally bad feet. I little rest before the last hard undercling move to the jug.
Please Dry (18***) a great but hard warmup for Louise with a distinct reachy crux at the top.
Survival Day 24** One extremely hard reachy move to a jug followed by a short thin section. Not as easy if you are not super tall.
Binary Neil (25***) the best of the harder route at the Binary Cave, very trued with continues hard moves on the intial wall across the roof and over a thin cruxy headwall section then finally easier ground up higher with great moves.
Theory of Negativity (20***) pretty tired by this stage but we had to do a lap of this stunning line. A great contender for one of the top climbs in the Blues all together.
y pumpy long endurance pearler. Big moves that get steeper and steeper until the final roof with your arms screaming for mercy high above the deck.
